Pillow and Toast Singapore

Another hostel review in Singapore, this time we tried to stay at Chinatown area as we were coming to Singapore by ferry from Batam. So we would like to stay on the purple line MRT, to have an easy access from and to Harbourfront Ferry Terminal.

Actually we booked Pillow and Toast Heritage, a new sister hostel of Pillow and Toast. We booked a 6 bedded mixed dorm there, but as more people joining our trip, we had to change our booking to the 8 bedded mixed dorm and two friends had to stay separately at the 8 bedded female dorm. Pillow and Toast Heritage were full, so they offered us to stay at the Pillow and Toast on Mosque Street. All of our emails were promptly replied by the hotel staff, they were indeed so helpful.

From the MRT, we took exit A, taking us directly to Chinatown shopping area. Then we walked to Mosque street, which is one lane just beside Pagoda Street. It took about 5 to 10 minutes walk from MRT exit A to the hostel.

Hotels surrounding was quiet, Wink Hostel and The Porcelain hotel are also located on mosque street.

Upon check-in, we got a towel and key to our room. Each of us had to pay a refundable deposit of SGD 20. The hostel staff walked with us to our room located on the 3rd floor! And had to pass this stair to get to our room:p

The beds were old, especially compared to the room we booked previously at Pillow and Toast Heritage. However all of us survived and had a great sleep while we were there. This room is SGD 32 per night per person on weekend.

The shared bathroom is available on each floor. On the first floor, the shared bathroom is located next to the laundry area. Bread, coffee and tea is free for guest in the morning. There's also a common area on the 4th floor where guest could use laptop or watch DVD. Too bad I didn't take the picture of it.

Overall it was a nice stay for the 10 of us, thanks Pillow and Toast:) Hope to see new beds on my next stay at your hostel.

Here's our group picture before leaving the hostel.
