For our new years weekend getaway in Singapore, we wanted to stay close to the airport on our first night, as our flight was at 9 pm from Jakarta. Our search via booking[dot]com led us to Holiday Inn Express Katong. We have stayed at Holiday Inn Express JI Expo Kemayoran before, now it is our turn to try their branch in Singapore.
We arrived at 2 am, because our flight was delayed for two hours. Airplane traffic is also very bad at Jakarta's airport on Friday night. The check in was fast and we were welcomed by Christmas decoration at the lobby of Holiday Inn Express Katong.

The hallway to our room was lovely, I didn't realize that mr.husband took a picture of me who was looking for our room. We booked their standard room, and it is spacious enough, especially for Singapore's standard.

The room was basic but it is very nice. 4 pillows were provided, two are the firm ones and the other two the hard pillows. The bed was also very comfortable, we really love the bed and pillows!

The Android Smartphone For Guests
This hotel comes with a fully charged android smartphone which can be used by the guests. How handy that is!
But as we arrived late and we had our own phone, we didn't use this provided phone though.

The Location of Holiday Inn Express Katong
Katong is famous for its Red house, and you know what? The Red House is just around the corner of the hotel! Just exit the hotel, turn right and you will see the Red House.
This used to be house for Katong Bakery & Confectionery which is operated from 1925 to 2003. Now you can find Wangs kopitiam which provide halal food.

Holiday Inn Express Katong is located just next to Indigo Hotel. Other hotels nearby are Village Bugis Katong, Santa Grand Hotel East Coast, and also the Mercure Roxy.

What else should you notice? Hmm, do not forget to visit a gelato boutique called Bird of Paradise and also the famous Katong Laksa 328. These two juts 5 minutes away from the hotel.

The Room Comes With A Breakfast
Yes, it's a good news! All the room comes with a breakfast at Holiday Inn Express Katong. And there's also a fresh orange juice vending machine at the lobby area (near the dining room). And do not forget to try their soft ice cream vending machine!

With around SGD 145 (after tax), it is worth it to stay at Holiday Inn Express Katong. So next time if you need to stay near Changi, you can consider this hotel.
