Visiting Rammang-Rammang Village, Makassar

The idea to visit Rammang-Rammang came from a friend at Makassar's office. Pak Rissyo said that it is the second largest karst in the world, and the largest karst in Indonesia. The next thing I did was googling abouth Rammang-Rammang Village in Makassar, and I fell in love with this place.

Pak Rissyo arranged the trip for us. We managed to leave the hotel at 8 am, headed to Rammang-Rammang and back to the airport at midday, because we had a flight to catch to Palu.

All the effort was really worth it, because this is the first sight I saw when we arrived at the small jetty for all the long tail boats going to Rammang-Rammang Village.

From the very first start, I knew this trip would be a special one

How To Go To Rammang-Rammang

Rammang-Rammang village is located around 1 hour drive from Makassar Airport, which is called Sultan Hasanudin Airport. Please bear in mind that the traffic going back to the airport from Rammang-Rammang was quiet heavy. Make sure you have spare time if you have to catch your flight.

Once you arrive at this small jetty, you will have to book your boat trip. The boat cost IDR300,000 for a round trip. Up to 6 people could fit in our boat.

They also rent hats for the visitors

It was around 10 am, and it was super hot. Our group were divided into two boats, and the ladies took the second boat. We needed to take the boat trip to go to the Rammang-Rammang Village.

It Was a Peaceful Boat Trip To Rammang-Rammang Village

This boat trip remind me a lot to our Tanjung Puting Trip. It was so peaceful and also really beautiful.

We also had to pass some caves with our boat, the caves made our boat trip more exotic :)

Beautiful caves
Our boat was passing under the cave

Along the river, we saw some rocks, caves and houses. Most of the houses were already abandoned by the owners.

I was stunned along the river..

Arriving at Rammang-Rammang Village

Finally our boatman asked us to alight after a 20 minutes boat ride. The boat then parked in one area, our groups were the only visitors that morning.

We arrived at the Rammang-Rammang jetty
The ticket was cheap, I couldn't remember, it was around IDR5,000 to IDR10,000

Passing the ticket counter, you will be amazed by what you see. The karst and the paddy field, was a view to remember! Too bad that the paddy field was really dry when we visited Rammang-Rammang.

Visiting King Kong Cave At Rammang-Rammang Village

We walked heading to a cave which is called "Goa King Kong" or King Kong Cave. When I asked why the name is King Kong? The boat man who walked with us to the cave, showed us a face of a King Kong on the rocks.

The King Kong Cave
Can you see the King Kong face?

By the way, you have to wear your sport shoes if you visit Rammang-Rammang Village. Especially if you are going to visit the cave.

After a short visit to King Kong cave, we went back to our boat. Bye for now Rammang-Rammang Village, I hope the next visit will be with our Kiddos.

A Short Visit to A Cafe at Rammang-Rammang Village

On the way back to the jetty, we stopped at a cafe along the river. We had some snacks and softdrink. Some of my friends also ordered instant noodle, while I ordered fried banana. The trekking and boat trip made us hungry:D

Souvenirs were also sold at the cafe

It was a really lovely trip to Rammang-Rammang Village. I still remember how peaceful it was, and I would love to come back soon! I couldn't thank Pak Rissyo, Pak Anto and his team enough to arrange this trip for us. Thank you once again!
