Cafe Kitsune Canggu Bali

Udah lama enggak posting tentang Bali, jadi tulisan tentang Jepang saya sudahi dulu ya, nanti kita lanjut lagi hehe.

Pison Ubud: Coffeeshop Cantik Yang Selalu Antre

Welcome to Lazy Cat Cafe

Dirty Duck Dinner (Bebek Bengil) at Nusa Dua

We were looking for a restaurant to cater our group dinner (around 100 people) in Nusa Dua or Jimbaran area. Three restaurants were on the top of our list which were Klapa Resto, Bebek Bengil Nusa Dua and Bebek Bengil GWK Jimbaran. At the end we choose Bebek Bengil Nusa Dua; Klapa Resto's buffet dinner was too expensive while Bebek Bengil GWK was too close to the hotel we stayed: Harris Hotel Bukit Jimbaran.

Bale Udang Mang Engking

This is one of the option if you are looking for halal food in Bali: Bale Udang Mang Engking near Jalan Raya Kuta Bali. We visited "Gubug Mang Engking" first in Yogyakarta, then we made another visit to their Soragan Castle also in Yogyakarta. Their branch in Bali is a more luxurious one, reminds me somehow of Telaga Sampireun Bintaro.

We visited Bale Udang Mang Engking at midday, and for me the best time to have Sundanese food is at lunch time. When I stepped into the resto, I felt like I was somewhere in Bandung.

Bubur Laota: Our First Stop in Bali

Bubur Laota is a small restaurant located on Jalan Raya Kuta (opposite Ibis Kuta Hotel) provides a really great porridge. As it is only 5-10 minutes drive from the airport and opens for 24 hours, it has been our first stop in Bali: whether to have our breakfast, lunch or for a late supper at midnight:p

There are many types of porridge; chicken, meat, or seafood porridge. We ordered Bubur Pelangi (rainbow porridge) which is a mixed of chicken, meat and seafood. One thing to remember, their portion is huge, one bowl of porridge can be shared for four person.

Yummy "Bubur Pelangi"

Gusto Gelato

I checked on Tripadvisor regarding the "recommended restaurant in Seminyak" when we planned to spend three nights in Seminyak area. To my surprise the number one recommended resto is Gusto Gelato which is a gelato and coffee cafe. Well, I have been to Bali several times, but I haven't heard about this place before.  Moreover I am an ice cream lover and I haven't tried the Gusto Gelato! Oh noo! it was then our top priority place to visit around Seminyak.

We visited the place for the first time after visiting Bali Zoo, I had my kiddos falling asleep on my lap in the car, so we had a cup of gelato taken away. It was really delicious that we decided to come back on the next day. With the help of google map, rene succeeded to find the Gusto Gelato. Located on Jalan Umalas 2, the road is small, that we thought we had entered the wrong street. We were really happy to finally find Gusto Gelato. It is a small cafe, but always full.

Warung D'Sawah Kerobokan

We knew about this place when we saw culinary show hosted by Pak Bondan, and we told ourselves we shall try this resto someday.. This warung located near Seminyak, to be precised on Jalan Raya Kerobokan Kelod No.17. From the outside this resto may not interest you, but once you gotinside, wohooo this resto offer you a relaxing atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak and Kerobokan area.

Bebek Tepi Sawah Ubud

We have been to Ubud many times, and also have seen the sign of "Bebek Tepi Sawah" many times, but we always choose Bebek Bengil instead. If you are heading to Ubud from Pasar Sukowati, the sign is clear; you have to turn left to go to Bebek Bengil, and turn to right if you want to go to Bebek Tepi Sawah. And this time we tried Bebek Tepi Sawah, and I might say it taste better than Bebek Bengil!

Bebek Tepi Sawah' simply means 'Duck on the edge of Rice Paddy' (that's the direct translation:p). And it is really true that this lovely restaurant is situated next the a rice paddy. We can seat in their Gazebo near the rice paddy. We really enjoy the atmosphere, lots of greenery of the rice field, really a nice place for a relaxing experience. By the way, we went there before dinner time at about 5 pm, so there were not so many guests by that time.

Encore Pizza Sunset Road

Going to Bali with our kids, made us had to shop for our boys' milk on the first night we arrived in Bali. So we went to Carrefour Sunset Road, bought AW soup for our boys, and just beside AW they have this Encore Pizza.

From the menu I read that the Encore Pizza came from Australia. I haven't found it in Jakarta and Bandung before, so I was curious how the pizza would taste.

We ordered their chicken salad for the appetizer. It cost around IDR 30,000, and the salad is so fresh and taste sooo good.

Halal Food Option in Bali: Makbeng Sanur

Going to bali without trying the Makbeng resto on our last visit to Bali, made us put this as one of the must visit place in our itinerary this time. It is located at Sanur Beach, near the Plaza Hotel (previously Radisson).

It has been there since 1941 and people keep coming there until now. They only have one set menu: fried fish and also the fish soup. Per set menu cost IDR 28,000. I don't like fish soup, I think that fish should be either grilled or fried. But to my surprise, I love the taste of Makbeng fish soup. Although it's too spicy for me, but it taste really fresh.

Flap Jack Kuta

If Jakarta has Pancious Pancake, Pan O and whatsoever, Kuta has this Flap Jack Pancakes, Waffels and Ice cream. Located adjacent to Ramayana Hotel, near Kuta Art Center, the resto is so eye catching as it is dominated by red. Anyone heading to Kuta Square from the discovery mall may notice this resto on the right side.

The price is about the same as the Pancious, ranging from Rp 30.000 to Rp 50.000 but the taste is much much better. Or maybe because we're in Kuta so it taste different?

We tried their fruit and ice cream waffle..nyammm nyammm...the portion is sooo big. It should be eaten by four person I guess.

Bebek Bengil Ubud

The most famous Bebek is probably the Bebek Bengil which originally located in Ubud Bali (well, now they also have Bebek Bengil in Jakarta..). We tried the Bebek Bengil one day when we visited Ubud, and was amazed with the queue at their lobby. Before entering the lobby, you will not find any parking place for your car, so they provide vallet service instead.

After waiting for about 15 minutes, the waiter called my name and we have a seat near the garden of the resto. The ambience is so nice, really Bali. There's a garden in the middle of the resto, with a cute statue of a mom who brestfeed her babies. We can also enjoy the ricefield at their backyard.

Of course we tried their Bebek Bengil, it was half of a duck and very crispy. The taste is just so so...*Bebek Goreng Suryo in Jakarta is much much better* And it was also very expensive..rice and bebek is IDR 65,000. Hmmmm....still the resto was so full !!!

And we tried also their nasi campur bali for IDR 35,000. Nasi campur in warung Wardhani Denpasar is much better:p

This resto will be much much better if the price is more friendly..hehe..

Nasi Ayam Made Wati Sanur

Been to Sanur Beach but have never tried this breakfast menu? ..Mmm..you have to go back there! Bali, our fave place to take holiday, has so much to offer, range from expensive to very cheap food like Nasi Ayam (chicken rice) Made Wati. Made Wati I believe is the name of the owner of this place.

The place is small, when it's full, you can eat in your cars. It is located at Sanur or to be more precise at Sindhu beach. If you want to find this place, first of all ask where is McD Sanur. Than when you've found McD, just go straight 'till the road ends and you find the beach. This warung is located on the right side, just before the beach. Opens from 7.30 am daily until 10am.

Halal Food in Kuta: Kebab Palace

Having difficulty to find halal food in Bali? Try this place and you'll love it.
We heard about this place from Tony, that made us put it on our Bali's itinerary. The place is quiet small, but located in the heart of Kuta square where any kind of food is available. You name it: Japanese, Korean, Indians, and now Kebab.

The main course ranging from Rp 30.000. You may find Sandwich, Sulvaki, Kebab and Pilav Ustu (kind of rice served with chicken or beef). While for the drinks it varies from mineral water, juice to wine. All with reasonable price, for example we pay Rp 7,000 for a 600ml of Aqua.

I ordered chicken donner kebab for Rp 30.000 and was very delicious *despite it contains too many onion* Rene ordered chicken Pilav Ustu for Rp 23.000 also vey delicious.

It's really a recommended place to find a halal, delicious and affordable dinner in kuta area.
