Loco Mama Food Truck

I have been waiting for the opportunity to go to Kemang area on Saturday night to try the famous Loco Mama food truck. But "the Saturday night" for me and Rene spent mostly around Cibubur area, or Bandung, or any other places if we were traveling, but never Kemang.

So it was a surprise for me to finally found Loco Mama food truck at Kota Wisata, Cibubur. Loco Mama participated in a food truck festival held in Kota Wisata few weeks ago, and also during Ramadan at cluster Nebraska.

Their orange truck was really eye catching between all other food trucks participating in the event.

Tokyo Skipjack: I Love STEAK Who Doesn't?

Tokyo Skipjack is a must visit steak restaurant in Jakarta. It is located on Jalan Bulungan (just opposite of the GOR Bulungan), in the southern part of the town. Although small in size, the restaurant is cozy offering a smoking and a non smoking area.

I heard so many times about Tokyo Skipjack, and finally visited it with Rene on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived around 5pm, so the place was not crowded. But if you plan to visit during dinner time, be prepared that it will be a challenge to get your seat.

We sat in their smoking area, because there were no one who smoke

Grab & Go Chicken Pop Corn ITC BSD

Do you love snacking? I do, and I love to try those new snacks in town:) When my friend @zkhairi opened his first outlet of Grab & Go in ITC BSD, I was really happy to become one of the tester. I love chicken pop corn!

Grab & Go provides chicken pop corn with french fries in a cute box. A box which will remind you to Chinese Food delivery in American movie. I think beside the taste of chicken pop corn and french fries, the box is also the selling point of Grab & Go.

Did you know that Kyochon Indonesia has already opened their outlet in Indonesia? The first Kyochon outlet in Jakarta opened two days ago at Pacific Place. I am not a big fan of Super Junior, but yes I love Korean chicken. I am a big fan of Bonchon and 4 Fingers Chicken. And I was lucky to be invited to try Kyochon on the third day since its official opening on October 2, 2013.

Thailand restaurant in Jakarta: CJ Tom Yum

Heard about this recommended Thai restaurant in Jakarta from a friend whose office located only few meters away from CJ Tom Yum. Really wanted to try this resto, but its location is so far away from my office, so it will never be our option to have lunch. Until one day I had a meeting near CJ Tom Yum, so we stopped by before our meeting.

CJ Tom Yum located in a residential area, its exterior will help you to find this Thai restaurant among the houses. During lunch time, it was difficult to find seat and parking place.

"CJ" derives from the owner Chicco Jerikho, one of Indonesian celebrity. He opened this resto in July 2011, and it is said that the chef at CJ comes from Thailand.

Mariette's House Alam Sutera

Always happy to find a gorgeous place to eat with the family, especially when your brother is paying the bill:D We went to Mariette's House in Alam Sutera to celebrate our parents 42th anniversary. Located in a shop house just opposite Living World, this place looks different than other shop houses in the area. I bet you will not miss this place by the look of its exterior.

lovely resto both its exterior and interior

Inside we found a vintage resto which made us feel that we were not in Alam Sutera, but somewhere in Porto:p I guess I saw too much pictures of Porto shared by Jalan2Liburan and dewtraveller in their blog as well as in their instagram. Oh dear...

Sate Maranggi Cibungur

I love Sate, any kind of Sate as long as it is halal. Sate Maranggi is one of the best sate variety that I like so much. I tried Sate Maranggi first in this place called Sate Maranggi Cibungur (Purwakarta) when I was a kid. The place has not changed at all from the last time I went there. I couldn't remember when was the last time I ate at this place, but for sure it was long time ago before Toll Cipularang which connects Bandung and Jakarta exist.

Dim Sum Festival Kemang

If you are looking for halal dimsum in Jakarta, this place could be the right place for you; Dim Sum Festival Kemang. From outside, the resto looks very Chinese:p To my surprise this resto is open 24 hours. Actually Yulastri, our bestfriend has recommended this place a long time ago. But we finally visited the place after submitting our visa documents to AVAC.

TRS Diner Cilandak Town Square

Another Sunday morning we spent at Cilandak Town Square, actually we went there for our family swimming session, but thereafter our kiddos request to go to the Timezone. It was too early to go to Timezone, so we stopped by TRS Diner to try have our Sunday brunch. We haven't tried this resto before and didn't know what's the menu. But we saw many people inside already enjoying their meal, so we decided to give it a try.

The resto was really nice, I felt like I was having brunch in the US, (well, I only saw it on TV, never been there before:p).

4 Fingers Chicken

We love trying new food, some of them become our fave, just like the 4 Fingers Chicken. We tried it at their Citos branch, actually we wanted to  have a breakfasting at Fish n Co, but as it was full I asked rene who were already at Citos to find other resto, and he found the 4 Fingers Chicken.

Of course we tried their chicken wing, and I have to write it in my blog that it was the best chicken wing that I've ever tried! And I mean it seriously:D It's so tasty and crunchy.

We ordered their large portion, 12 chicken wings with french fries and drinks for IDR 90,000. We requested two types of chicken wing, the spicy one and the regular one. So they gave us these two boxes. And they put all the dishes in the unique box, don't wait for your plates because you have to eat them from the box:p

Merica Kelapa gading

Let's review one of the resto from the famous Kelapa Gading area, which is only about 20 minutes away from my office:p I used to go to Merica for lunch, and due to space availability, most of the time, I have to go early for lunch at Merica.

Merica Kelapa Gading offers you a cozy atmosphere, with unique cow collection around the wall. It's so lovely. Too bad the resto is too small. I haven't been to other branch of Merica, so I couldn't compare Kelapa gading's branch with other location.

Talaga Sampireun Bintaro

If you'd like to have great Sundanese food with super atmosphere while you are in Jakarta, than you have to visit Talaga Sampireun. Located in Bintaro, to be precised near the exit of Pondok Aren highway, you'll find this resto on your right side.

We had a reunion with tesyasblog tour to Penang participants in Talaga Sampireun :p We reserved the day before to get an airconditioned saung (bamboo house), which is suitable for 12 person. The reservation for lunch weekend is divided into two batches: 10.30 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 3 pm. We choose to have lunch at 10.30 am, which was good as the resto was not (yet) crowded. And please be advised that the reservation is required a day before. There is a minimum order if you wish to use the saung, for an air conditioned single saung, the minimum order is IDR 700,000.

The kids love this place as they can play with the fish. Actually there is also a playground there, but we sat on the other side of the playground, so that the kids didn't see it.

We ordered gurame terbang (fried gurame fish), tahu kipas (one of the best!), chicken satay, shrimp, and squid.

The F&B here is quiet expensive. We went there when Permata Bank had a joint promo with Talaga Sampireun, giving a 25% discount with its Credit Card. We had to pay IDR 620,000 for three families, after discount. One person on average will be around IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000. Well, for this great place, it is worth it. But I think that the playground should be free of charge on weekend as well.

Ever Fresh MAG

We found this seafood resto inside Mall Artha Gading in northern part of Jakarta, and we fell in love with this resto for its affordable price and of course the taste of the food! It's a seafood resto where we can choose the fresh seafood from their 'seafood display area'. The price is determined by the weight of the seafood we choose. And every 1 onz will be subject to IDR 1,000 for the cooking fee.

The most famous menu is the steam fish with its hongkong sauce. You can choose the kind of fish you would like to steam. But the most recommended one is the red neela fish. It cost IDR 35,000 for 1/2kg. I don't like steam fish, and tried the fried gurame and also the grilled one. They were also yummy.

Fried squid is also our fave here, it cost IDR 25,000 for 1/4kg. You can have it either fried, cooked with saos padang (spicy one), the one below is the fried crispy squid with salt and pepper sauce.

And for the vegetable, we choose salt fish with tauge for IDR 17,500.

This resto is highly recommended:) Average per person is around IDR 35,000

La Porchetta Grand Indo

We love Grand Indonesia mall for its food and of course because of the funworld section for our boys. We seldom go there, but once we go there, than we always try resto that we haven't tried before. This time we tried the La Porchetta, as it sounds, yes it is an italian resto, and the decoration is also really italian. For our boys' lunch, we ordered their penne carbonara and not only our boys who love it, but also both rene and me. It tastes really nice. The pasta cost IDR 40,000.We also tried their margarita pizza large size:p which cost IDR 45,000. For me the taste was not that special. And last but not least we ordered their chicken schnitzel, which also taste real good, but too bad it came with no steak sauce. It cost around IDR 40,000.written on December 12, 2010

Hema Dutch Resto

This is the second review on Hema, our fave dutch resto for its affordable price and also its look alike Dutch atmosphere. Hema is located in several locations in Jakarta: The TIS Square Tebet, Bekasi Square, Kemang Raya Bekasi, KH Ahmad Dahlan and heard that they have one in the Netherlands Embassy as well.

The decoration is trully dutch with its windmills, old houses of amsterdams, tulips, and also de klompen (the wooden shoes). All will remind me of my one year stay in Holland back in 1993. What a long time ago... Always a nice place to visit even only to eat their dutch potato!

We ordered their Huzaren Sla which cost around IDR 20,000. It contains fruits and vegetables, and topped by mayonaise sauce. It is so yummy.

And my fave is the fried potato, well the potato is only an original fried potato. But the sauce really reminds me of the sauce in Holland. It cost also around IDR 20,000.

And the last menu we ordered was their poffertjes which came with one scoop of ice cream. It was a perfect dish to end our date that day:p

Oenpao Dim Sum and Noodles

Yess I am a dimsum freak, so I was so happy when I found this place called Oenpao, which serve halal dimsum. We tried first at their Kemang branch, it was really a cozy place to have a break. But then, it opened in Cibubur Square, the rest area in Jagorawi Toll Road (from Jakarta heading to Bogor). So I am really happy.

The dimsum is around IDR 12,000 up to IDR 21,000. We ate a lot, so enjoy our dimsum pictures!

Their noodle is also special, we ate their duck noodle and swekiau noodle. I prefer the swekiau noodle though, the duck taste a bit rare. The noodle range between IDR 20,000 to IDR 35,000. The noodle is small, smooth and cooked al dente. We really love the noodle.

Pasta de Waraku Grand Indonesia

Yesss we love pasta so much, so any recommended place for pasta become a must visit place for us. Then we heard about this Pasta de Waraku, and how delicious the pasta is. So we visited one of their branch in Grand Indonesia.
No need to be confused in choosing the menu, we can directly see the sample hanging on their wall.We tried their korokoro tofu for the appetizer. It's a fried japanese tofu, and was a very good start, it cost IDR 22,000.Then we also ordered their pizza, very thin indeed, but tastes unique. We tried Pizza hotate prawn for IDR 56,000.
For the pasta, our mom wanted to have the original one, so we tried their meat bolognese for IDR 58,000. It came with a half boiled egg in the midle.
While I tried their tomato cream chicken and mushroom also for IDR 58,000

All the menu came in a very small portion, but very delicious. I would recommend this resto for its taste, but not for the price. So for us, it will be a one time visit, unless there's a special promo in this resto next time.

Kemangi Kelapa Gading

Kemangi actually is a name of a leaf that can be eaten, especially with sambal (I don't know how it is called in English), but this review is not about the leaf, it is about a resto called Kemangi located in Kelapa Gading boulevard.

The resto is quite small but always full during the day especially at lunch and dinner time. It offers Indonesian food, which I can stay very tasty at affordable price. The favorite one would probably nasi lemak served with egg, peanut, teri, cucumber and kemangi plus sambal, cost only IDR 6,000. For this nasi lemak you can add the main course, ikan tenggiri (the fish which u may see on the picture below), fried chicken, empal goreng, ikan goreng..etc.

Or you can also add this sambal teri to your nasi lemak. This menu is very recommended and cost only IDR 6,000.

We also tried their mie goreng for IDR 16,000 and also very yummy...

Kemangi is one of the must visit resto in Kelapa Gading area.
