After two days full of food in Kediri, we went back to Surabaya. I extended my business trip for another night in Surabaya, Rene came to accompany me for a weekend getaway in Surabaya and Madura.
I was looking for a budget hotel in Surabaya and I found out that Fave Hotel had opened their branch in Surabaya called Fave Hotel Mex. Having stayed in Fave Hotel By Pass Bali and Fave Hotel Langkawi before, I reserved a standard room at Fave Hotel Mex Surabaya cost IDR 390,000 nett.
When we checked in, we just knew that Fave Hotel located on a building called Mex. Ooh..so this is why the hotel called Mex:p I went to the 3rd floor where the reception desk was located.
The lobby area was cozy with many sofas, water dispenser (free for the guest) and a charging box for our gadget.
Our room located on the 6th floor, we had to use our room key to enter the floor, which was good for the security reason.
The room was modern, small in size, has a very attractive wallpaper and attached with a clean (purple) bathroom. One thing I didn't notice when I book this room was that the room came without window! It was shocking at the first place, but when I turned on the aircon, it was much better. Free and fast wifi is available in the room.
In front of the hotel, there's the Bon Cafe, famous for its steak and ice cream. It's also about 15 minutes walk to Tunjungan Plaza Surabaya. A convenient store is available at the basement, made it easy to buy mineral water at night.
If only the standard room comes with a window, I would recommend Fave Hotel Mex Surabaya. Perhaps I should have booked the superior room that has a window.
