Komodo Trip With Kids: Sunrise at Gili Lawa

On the last morning of our live aboard trip (LOB) in Komodo, all of us woke up before 5 am and getting ready for the trekking to see the the sunrise at Gili Lawa. We also woke our Kiddos up because they said that they wanted to join the trekking as well. But then the captain said that it was not recommended to take the kids up to the hill in the dark. After some negotiation, our Kiddos agreed to stay on the boat with @ibupenyu.

We transferred by our small speed boat to the beach, it was still dark, and we had to climb up to the hill. Yup the highest hill in the below picture! Thousand of stars accompanied our walk. It was indeed a special morning for us.

The hill, the stars and the darkness at Gili Lawa

For me (and perhaps the rest of our group), it was a long and hard climb to the hill. We walked around 45 minutes with some stops to rest. When we finally reached the hill, we sat down and the sky as our background amazed us.

We were so tired!:p

But leaving our Kiddos on the boat was not a good idea at all. Kiddos#1 called me when we were climbing the hill, saying thay he wanted to do the climb as well. After 15 minutes on the hill, our Kiddos#1 called me again. I knew that it was time to go back to the boat. We didn't succeed to take the pictures of the sunrise -_- We hurried up taking some pictures of Gili Lawa.

Another post wedding picture:)

The path going down to the boat was stunning, it looks like somewhere in New Zealand, but nope, we are in Indonesia!

Our way back to the boat

We choose taking different route, and as the sun had showed up, we could enjoy the view of the hill and the sea.

The view was real!
This is Gili Lawa

When we finally reached the beach, our Kiddos were transferred to the beach with the speedboat, and we enjoyed the peaceful beach at Gili Lawa that morning.

The three of us on the beach

All they wanted was to play on the beach with us. Leaving them at the boat was not a good idea at all:p

Kiddos' playground, few meters away from our boat

When our group finally came back to the beach, we played for a while, before going back to our boat.

A lovely morning at Gili Lawa

The breakfast was ready, we went back to our boat by the small speedboat. Because the boat was too close to the beach, the last group took a ride first around our boat.

Back to the boat
Bye Gili Lawa :)

It was hard saying goodbye to Gili Lawa. Every corner of it was very special. This place should be in everyone's itinerary when visiting Komodo Island.

    1. Ke bukit yang kecil pas sunset sih kita pergi Kak Adie, tapi pas yang subuh-subuh ini medan nya berat. Apa kita memilih jalur yang beda ya?

  4. Emang keindahan Taman Nasional Komodo ini gak habis-habis kalimat menggambarkan keelokannya. Sayang ya gak bisa bawa anak-anak ke atas Gili Lawa hingga konsentrasi terpecah, Mbak Tesya :)
