Jepang Doeloe Resto Bandung

Planning going to Bandung this weekend? We'd like to share a Japanese resto called Jepang Doeloe we tried about two weeks ago. My father wanted to have a Japanese lunch and he requested to try this quiet new Japanese resto. Jepang Doeloe located on Jalan Putri, near Jalan Burangrang, where you could find Batagor Riri, and Bakso Malang Enggal.

Sate Maranggi Cibungur

I love Sate, any kind of Sate as long as it is halal. Sate Maranggi is one of the best sate variety that I like so much. I tried Sate Maranggi first in this place called Sate Maranggi Cibungur (Purwakarta) when I was a kid. The place has not changed at all from the last time I went there. I couldn't remember when was the last time I ate at this place, but for sure it was long time ago before Toll Cipularang which connects Bandung and Jakarta exist.

Ah Poong (Pasar Apung) Sentul

Sentul is our favorite place to go over the weekend: it is easily reached from Cibubur, still no traffic jam if we left home early in the morning (let's say around 7.30 am and get back home after our brunch there). One of our kiddos fave place in Sentul is Ah Poong (Pasar Apung).

The name derives from the word apung which means floating in English, and for those who haven't been to Lok Baintan Floating Market, you can start to shop from the boat at Ah Poong. Ah Poong is getting very crowded on the weekend, coming early in the morning is really recommended

Cirebon, from Empal Gentong Mang Darma to H.Moel Seafood

I remember the first time we visited Cirebon (on our road trip from Jakarta to Semarang), we ended up eating fast food at Grage Mall. Yeah great! This time we asked our friends in Twitterland to give food recommendation. And Alhamdulillah we got food recommendation from Mba Niken @LiburanAnak. I couldn't thank her enough. We got only one day, and we tried as many as possible:p

There are many famous Cirebon dishes that were recommended. Empal Gentong was one of them. For our first (late) lunch, we ate Empal Gentong Mang Darma located at the opposite of the Grage Mall. Was it good? Yes. And it was IDR 15,000 per portion, so cheap..

Aston Hotel Cirebon Review

This was the first time we were taking our kiddos for a roadtrip to Cirebon. As we went there on a long weekend, the journey from Jakarta took 9 hours! We left home at 3.30 am and arrived at Cirebon at 12.30 pm. Alhamdulillah kiddos enjoyed the trip without complaining (well, I did, umm so much:p).

We headed directly to Aston Cirebon, and thanks to Aston we could directly get into our room, just what we needed. We booked through their website and got 10% off for the "bookdirect" promotion. The room and breakfast cost IDR 588.000 (nett).

It's a new hotel, renovation was still going on around the hotel's parking area.  They are building a ballroom next to the hotel. When we entered their lobby, we were amazed. Wow this hotel is big! The design reminds me to Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I have never stayed there, but I saw the MBS's lobby and rooms when passing through the hotel going to Gardens by The Bay.

One day in Palembang without Pempek

I seldom go to Palembang even though I am married to rene who is 100% Palembangnese. As long as I remember I have been there twice for a business trip, and one time for a long weekend holiday. Of course everyone including myself will eat pempek as many as possible while in Palembang. But in one of my visit to Palembang, I didn't visit any of those pempek restaurants. That was strange of course, how a day without Pempek in Palembang would be?

We started our day eating dim sum at Jade Garden which is located on Jalan Dempo, at the opposite of toko kerupuk 301. I must say that all the dim sum were super delicious! Really recommended.

Things to do in Bengkulu

On my first business trip to Bengkulu, I got several hours to spend, and of course I would like to see what the city has to offer. That afternoon our friends took us to house of Soekarno during his imprisonment by the Dutch in 1932. The house is still there and well maintained, but we were the only one visited the house.
