Bahamas Hotel Belitung

On our second night in Belitung, we preferred to stay at Tanjung Pandan city to be close with the airport due to our early flight the next morning by Citilink. We finally choose Bahamas, as it was the cheapest we could get compared to Billiton and Grand Hatika. We were also recommended by our friend Rico who had stayed there before.

We made our booking by phone and got a discounted rate at IDR 520,000 per night, of course for the cheapest room. When we got there, we were glad that the room condition is much better compared to Lor In.

Lor In Hotel at Tanjung Tinggi Beach Belitung

Normally when we go on holiday with kiddos, we will have reserved an accommodation prior to our arrival. When we went to Belitung, we have also booked one night at Bukit Berahu cottage, but we were not sure about the room until the last minutes. We wanted to stay direct on the beach, but many reviews stated that we couldn't  swim on the beach near the cottage of Bukit Berahu.

Our dear friend Dini Rosdini recommended Lor In Hotel at Tanjung Tinggi Beach for us, but we thought the price at Agoda (almost IDR 1,000,000) was too expensive. Until we saw the hotel and witnessed that it is located in front of the beautiful beach. We decided to stay there and cancelled our reservation at Bukit Berahu.

IBIS Hotel Bugis

Unlike other Ibis hotel, Ibis Hotel Bugis in Singapore is quite an expensive hotel: my tiny room cost USD 150 per night, including breakfast. I didn't expect such a small room could be that expensive. I booked this hotel on a last minute, just one day before my departure to Singapore. I would like to stay on the green line MRT, I was looking for a hotel with a free wifi, and  the hotel that crossed my mind that day was Ibis.

Ibis Bugis has two entrance, I always thought that the entrance would be on Bencoolen street. But I was wrong, the main entrance was on the Bencoolen Link, facing the backside of South East Asia Hotel and Kwan Im temple. The taxi stand for Ibis was there, while on the Bencoolen Street side you may find a bus stop just outside the hotel.

Tulip Festival at Gardens by The Bay

I was supposed to attend a training at end of May'13 in Singapore, but the training was canceled due to limited number of participants. So I changed the training and fortunately the schedule is within the tulip festival period held at Gardens by The Bay:)

I was 17 years old when I made my dream come true to see the purple tulip in Keukeunhof. My hostparents took me all the way from Eindhoven to Keukeunhof, and I am a big fan of tulip ever since. So seeing the tulips festival only 1,5 hours away from Jakarta was something I was really looking for.

Pillow and Toast Singapore

Another hostel review in Singapore, this time we tried to stay at Chinatown area as we were coming to Singapore by ferry from Batam. So we would like to stay on the purple line MRT, to have an easy access from and to Harbourfront Ferry Terminal.

Actually we booked Pillow and Toast Heritage, a new sister hostel of Pillow and Toast. We booked a 6 bedded mixed dorm there, but as more people joining our trip, we had to change our booking to the 8 bedded mixed dorm and two friends had to stay separately at the 8 bedded female dorm. Pillow and Toast Heritage were full, so they offered us to stay at the Pillow and Toast on Mosque Street. All of our emails were promptly replied by the hotel staff, they were indeed so helpful.

Batam, for Seafood Lovers

If you have free time in Batam and wondering what to do in Batam, other than shopping I would suggest to try their Seafood. There are so many great seafood resto, but in this post I only share two seafood restaurants that I tried on my last visit to Batam.

We arrived about lunch time and went directly to a resto called Tiam Huat. From what stated on their sign, the food is halal. Tiam Huat was very crowded, lucky that we got seat for 20 of us:)
