On our first visit to Kuching with four of my friends, I had no idea where to stay. So I read reviews on tripadvisor and choose the no.1 hotel in Kuching (based on tripadvisor reviews) which was The Lime Tree Hotel. Beside the reviews, of course our main concern was the price. It was really affordable! Each of us only paid IDR 250,000 per person, and we got a spacious room with an ensuite bathroom.
We arrived at 9 am, after a 10 hours bus ride from Pontianak to Kuching (well, almost 12 hours including the immigration process). I have sent email to the hotel asking if we could check in early in the morning. And yes they gave us a room directly upon our arrival.
We booked two rooms, one deluxe room for the male and one executive deluxe room for the female. We booked the executive deluxe because only executive rooms can accommodate an extra bed. The room was really spacious for the three of us. A modern room and yes, very clean.

The most famous thing about this hotel is the rooftop bar, so we went there in the evening and enjoyed great view of Kuching city with the lights.

Location wise, well it is still about 15-20 minutes walking distance to Kuching waterfront. Or better to take a cab cost only about RM 15. From and to the airport, they provide a cheap shuttle cost RM 35 for the five of us.
The next morning, we couldn't have our breakfast as we had to catch an early flight. The hotel packed our breakfast, a cheese sandwich for each of us.

Overall I might say this hotel is very recommended. They also have a family room if you take your family to Kuching.
