Review of Ibis Therry Street, a Family Hotel in Melbourne

I was looking for a kids friendly hotel or apartment in Melbourne through booking.com when I found a reasonably priced family hotel in Melbourne: Ibis Hotel on Therry Street. Ibis has standard double or twin rooms, and it also has one or two bedroom apartments. The two bedroom apartment was above our budget, but the one bedroom apartment was not.

Our budget for a night stay at Melbourne was at maximum AUD 150, and the one bedroom apartment was AUD 139. It has a separate living room, provides a kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator, and a bathtub. Just perfect for our kiddos who love swimming so much.

I sent an email to the hotel prior to the room reservation asking whether we were allowed to take two kids, because in the hotel's policy which is written on booking.com, only 1 child was allowed. The email was promptly replied and yes we could take our both of our kiddos to the one bedroom apartment:) I made the reservation through booking.com after receiving the email.

We arrived at the lobby at midnight, and found the hotel was very homey. There were an internet corner where guest were allowed to use the computer 30 minutes every single day. The check in was fast and hassle free.

The reception area
The internet corner which was always busy

We were satisfied with the room, it was spacious enough for the four of us. Kiddos could play at the living room, while I could rest in the room:p Too bad the kitchenette came without the stove.

Loved the living room
The large king bed
Although small, but it has a bathtub

Although not located near the shopping area like Bourke Street, Ibis on Therry Street is 5 minutes away to the Queen Victoria Market. Yeay shopping! We planned to visit Melbourne Zoo, and this hotel is perfect. We could take tram to Melbourne Zoo from Queen Victoria Market. By the way, at the end we canceled visiting the zoo and visited Melbourne Museum instead.

I will stay here if we have another chance to visit Melbourne. It's a perfect and affordable family hotel and apartment in Melbourne.
