Things To Do In Biei: A Visit to Shikisai No Oka

The name of this beautiful place in Biei is very hard to remember: Shikisai No Oka. But I have to start my post by saying that this flower field in Biei is even more beautiful than Farm Tomita. So for me personally, if you go all the way from Sapporo to Farm Tomita, you also have to visit Shikisai No Oka.

How did I know this place? Of course from google, when I typed in "things to do in Biei". I visited its website, and I knew from the first sight that this beautiful hilly farm field is not to be missed.

Too bad that we went there too early (2nd July 2017), so that the flower had not been bloomed yet. But even with small flowers, Shikisai No Oka was so stunning.

Imagine if you visit this place when all the flowers are blooming

How To Go To Shikisai No Oka By Public Transport

The easiest way is to take Biei View Bus from the tourist information center which is located around Biei JR Station. You can download the pdf regarding Biei View Bus in this link

Using the Biei View Bus, you could visit some interesting spots in Biei. There are some routes, you can choose which suits you the best.

As we didn't have time to visit any other place beside Shikisai No Oka, we decided to walk from the nearest station, which is JR Bibaushi Station. The Bibaushi Station is one station away from JR Biei Station. When we reached the station, we turned on google map.

It was a long 30 minutes of walking, but thanks God both of our Kiddos made it :) We walked in the direction to Bibaushi Elementary School, and just went straight from the school. We could count how many cars passing by. Yup, the village is very quiet. We were glad that we could finally reach the place.

Keep on walking, Kiddos!
Finally we arrived at Shikisai No Oka

PS. You can also hire taxi (around JPY2,500) from JR Biei Station to Shikisai No Oka. Do not try to walk from JR Biei Station, it is way too far!

Taking Picture With The Icon of Shikisai No Oka

When we arrived at the building of Shikisai No Oka, we went inside without having to pay any entrance fee. We took picture with its famous icon, before heading to the colorful tractor.

There are two icons: the male and the female.

This is "the male" icon. The three of you are so cute :)

Let's Take The Tractor To Go Around The Flower Field

Then I approached the ticket counter of the tractor. We bought a bundling ticket for the tractor as well as the Alpaca Farm, which cost JPY600 for adult and half for the kids.

That morning, we were first visitors who took the tractor at Shikisai No Oka.

Could you spot the female icon of Shikisai No Oka?

There are some transport option inside Shikisai No Oka. You can rent whichever you like, or you can also walk. After a 30 mins of walking from the Bibaushi station, there was no way I could refuse our Kiddos' request to take the tractor:D

They choose to sit at the back, and it was an enjoyable ride to see all the beautiful flowers.

There's a different pathway for the tractor and the visitor

Feeling more adventurous? You can rent your own golf car and ride it by yourself around the flower field.

We saw one family who rented this golf car

The Alpaca Farm at Shikisai No Oka

Our Kiddos couldn't wait the visit to Alpaca Farm, there's always something between animal with the kids, right? So after the tractor ride, we went to the Alpaca Farm.

We bought food for Alpaca, and were told to keep the food basket at the back of our body.

The bundling ticket with the tractor is much cheaper

The basket should be safely kept

The Alpaca is so fluffy and cute :) Each of them has name, so we could call them by their name.

Hello Alpaca!

The Beauty of Shikisai No Oka

Of course the tractor ride and the visit to Alpaca Farm were the highlight for our Kiddos. But for me, it was the flower :)

Only me and our Kiddos who visited this park, as mr.husband was cycling in Biei that morning. I hope that someday, I would have the chance to visit this beautiful place again with mr.husband.

The place was getting crowded around 11 am

This place is so lovely
