Review of Birchwood Cottage Te Anau

Had no idea where to stay at Te Anau, a quiet little town located 2 hours away from Milford Sound, I count so much on tripadvisor review. From the most recommended "speciality lodging" section I found a beautiful place called Birchwood Cottage.

I booked the hotel via booking.com, the price for a 3 bedroom cottage is NZD 240 per night. Perfect as it was within our budget of NZD 120 per night, and we could share the whole house with Dini's family. 

Home away from home at Te Anau

We arrived after our 2 hours roadtrip from Queenstown. The owners, Ray and Leony, greeted us warmly and showed us the house. It has everything we needed; lovely kitchen, a bathtub for our kiddos and yeay a washing machine! Everything in the house is very well maintained.

Not too mention they have a trampoline and also a huge garden with playground for kiddos :)

Ray's house is just opposite of our house, a very homey house which is located adjacent to the office of Birchwood Cottage.

Locationwise, Birchwood Cottage was only a 5 minutes drive to Te Anau Town Center. We did our grocery shopping and cook our meals to save our daily budget. It was also only a short drive away to Te Anau Lake.

The Birchwood Cottage is very recommended if you are looking for a base for your trip to Milford Sound. I could not thank Ray and Leony enough for their hospitality.
