Chilling Out at 180 Coffee & Music Bandung

The 180 Coffee & Music which is around the area of Jalan Dago Bandung, is famous for its chilling pool. The pool is located at the half open space area of the cafe. Been eyeing this place sometime, and finally we made a visit.

It was Sunday morning and we had to queue to get into the cafe. The pool was only open after 11 am, so we choose to sit inside. Few kids were outside playing around the pool, so I guess our table which was just next to the pool was just perfect. And so was the hot cup of Picollo.

Mimiti Coffee & Space: Where To Go For Your Morning Caffeine Fix in Bandung

I love Bandung my hometown in the morning for its fresh air and less crowded traffic. The best thing to do is to have my morning jogging then head to a coffeeshop to wait for my husband and his friends cycling.

And one day, I finally made a visit to this famous coffeeshop in Bandung called Mimiti Coffee & Space. Don't be confused by google map or waze. The place is now already moved to a new address on Jalan Sumur Bandung.

The coffeeshop was just opened, I had it for myself and few other people. I loved how serene the place was.

You may choose the outdoor or indoor area to enjoy your coffee

Contrast Coffee Bandung: An Instgramable Coffee Shop In Bandung

This post is again about one area called Jalan Riau Bandung which has so many restaurants, factory outlets and also must visit coffee shops. The recommended Bandung's Culinary around Jalan Riau is posted in this link, and has been on tesyasblog's top posts for a while.

My friend Iwan Kustiwan introduced me to Contrast Coffee Bandung, a week before my visit to this homey coffee shop. I couldn't resist trying and visiting lovely coffee shops, so the next week we went to Bandung again, Contrast Coffee Bandung was on the top of my must visit place on that weekend.

We came around 9.30 am at Contrast Coffee Bandung, after buying Bandung's snack at Prima Rasa on Jalan Kemuning. The Contrast Coffee was still empty, leaving this industrial designed coffee shop only for me and mr.husband. Yeay!

The interior of Contrast Coffee is so gorgeous!

Buttercup Bakery Bandung - When Good Food and Great Place Collide

So this is it, my fave bakery in Bandung: Buttercup Bakery, located on Jalan Dago Bandung, just in front of the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton. Well, don't get confuse by its name, because actually it is not only the bakery, but also the cafe which provides delicious fine dining. Or a soft of.

I came across this bakery when I saw their pictures on instagram, and I just love the place! The interior is so grande, yet they reviews say that the price of the food is still affordable. Which I questioned, is it really that affordable?

Jalan Dago was so crowded on the last week before Christmas, so was the Four Points Hotel Bandung. Lucky we still got parking place in the basement, took a lift to the hotel lobby, and just walk to the opposite building where we found the entrance to Buttercup Bakery Bandung.

Angkringan de BlankON - Enjoying The View of Bandung

I am a big fan of "angkringan". If you don't know what it is, "angkringan" is known as a food street, serving rice in small portion, satay (in many variance), tofu, tempeh, etc and of course the sambal. You can choose what to eat and the guy will grill the food for you.

Angkringan is easily found in Jogjakarta, but as more people love to enjoy the food at angkringan, you can find it everywehere. I once ate angkringan in Balikpapan (Kalimantan), and it taste as good as what I ate in Jogjakarta.

Now in my hometown Bandung, you can enjoy angkringan in a modern way, in a place called Angkringan de BlankOn. It is located in one of the hill of Punclut overlooking the lovely Bandung. I must say that so far Angkringan de BlankON is angkringan with the best view.

The view from one of the corner at Angkringan de BlankON

I don't go directly to a new or happening cafes in Bandung, because I don't like the crowd. But when I found Angkringan de BlankON through instagram, I asked mr.husband to visit this place. Yes, because I love the food from angkringan.

Warkop Modjok: Our Brunch at This Cute Coffee Shop

What to do in Bandung these days? Cafe hopping! There are so many new cafes and coffee shops in Bandung to be visited. Mostly the happening cafes and coffee shop are located on the northern part of Bandung: Dago, Punclut and Lembang. And as you may know, traffic is really bad especially on weekend. So once you are in the northern part, make some stops for a cafe hopping in Bandung.

After the whole day going to Hummingbird, Lawangwangi and Warung Salse, and The Lodge Maribaya, the next morning we went to Warung Modjok. A super cute coffeshop, heaven for you who love vintage.

We arrived early at 9 am, when Warkop Modjok has just opened. But there was a group of high school students I believe, taking picture for their year book. I wondered what time they had arrived at Warkop Modjok.

Cafe Hopping at Dago Giri Bandung: Lawang Wangi and Warung Salse

It was one special weekend for me, as I could explore Bandung with my friends. That weekend I act as if I was one of the Jakarta's weekender who spend their Saturday and Sunday in Bandung. Only as if..

"Let's go to Lawang Wangi for lunch" Bobby, who was our tour leader during the weekend, mention one place I have never been before. I have heard about it many times though, so I said ok and everyone else answered the same.

We had just finished our brunch at Hummingbird, we shared our food knowing that there will be 5 stops on that day for brunch, lunch, dinner and snacking. Bobby drove all the way to Dago, and turn left to Jalan Dago Giri. We had to pass bumpy and steep road, before finally reaching Lawang Wangi Creative Space.

Why is it called "Creative Space"? Because apart from the restaurant, it also perform arts exhibition.

Setelah urusan hotel selesai, saatnya kita memilih tempat makan! Supaya tidak bingung, rekomendasi wisata kuliner di sekitar jalan Riau Bandung saya tulis berdasarkan kategorinya ya, dari mulai tempat ngopi hingga restoran.

Contrast Coffee

Hartwood Bandung: Great Food & Place To Dine Out

No matter that many new restaurants and cafe are coming to Bandung, still I found it hard to decide where to take our family for dinner. Saturday evening is always very crowded in Bandung, so easy access (and less trafiic) to the restaurant is very important. Yes there are many beautiful restaurants in the northern part of Bandung, but it is far away from my house which is located in the southern part of the city.

Restaurants in the heart of the city has been our preference, and one of them is Hartwood Bandung. The restaurant is located on Jalan Cimanuk (near Jalan Riau), very close to the factory outlets area on Jalan Riau.

Hartwood Bandung is also only a few meters away from our favourite coffee shop in Bandung: Two Cents. Read our full review of Two Cents: A Cafe To Start Your Weekend in Bandung.

Enjoying BBQ Spice Grill at Hardy's Dining Room Mercure Bandung Setiabudi

When you are staying in a hotel which is located in the northern part of Bandung and Lembang, it's better to stay at you hotel for dinner to avoid the traffic jam in the area. That's what we did when we stayed at Mercure Bandung Setiabudi.

What's better than having a BBQ in the cold air of Bandung? We went downstairs to Hardy's Dining Room around 7.30 pm. The restaurant was already busy with other guests who were enjoying the BBQ Spice Grill at Mercure Bandung.

Baker Street Bandung: The Best Quiche In Town

There were three reasons why I visited Baker Street Bandung: 1) The building looks really luxury with a revolving door, 2) The location of this cafe which is near Gedung Sate, 3) This cafe is always full, all day long.

So on our way back to Jakarta (via Pasteur toll), we stopped by at Baker Street Bandung, it was a lazy Sunday morning, there were only few guests at the cafe. Our Kiddos picked the sofa with a view to Gedung Sate.

Morning Glory Coffee Bandung

This is why I love Bandung: there are so many new cafes and restaurants to try! Like the one I found near Riau Street: Morning Glory Coffee.

I often pass Jalan Cempaka Bandung whenever I buy Bandung's snack at Prima Rasa. One day, I notice there's a restaurant I have never been to, called Morning Glory Coffee on Jalan Cempaka. It is located just accross the "Taman Foto Bandung" or Bandung's Photography Park.

The next weekend since I saw Morning Glory Coffee, I decided to have lunch before heading back to Jakarta. We parked our car at Taman Foto Bandung and crossed the road to Morning Glory Coffee or MG&CO for short.

Armor Kopi Bandung : A Coffee Shop Inside a Forest

Planning another weekend getaway in Bandung, and wondering what's another place that is "must visit" in Bandung? One of the most famous and most "instagramable" place is probably this coffee shop inside a forest in Dago Area (Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda), called Armor Kopi Bandung.

I've heard about Armor Kopi Bandung so many times, but as it was too far away from my house in Bandung. I postponed my visit until last weekend, when we had a chance to stay at Padma Hotel Bandung. Waiting for our check-in time, we stopped first at Armor Kopi Bandung.

Armor Kopi opened at 8 am on Saturday, so it was perfect for morning people like us, who usually arrive in Bandung at 7.30 whenever we spend a weekend in Bandung. A fresh air and greenery welcomed us as we stepped into Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda. Entrance fee was IDR 10,000 per person and IDR 14,000 for the car, which was paid at the entrance gate of Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda.

A perfect place to start your weekend in Bandung

Kafetaria 170 Bandung

If you are heading to Bandung or going back to Jakarta from Bandung via Pasteur toll gate, you can stop for a while to have some snacks or even enjoying your breakfast, lunch or dinner at Kafetaria 170.

Kafetaria 170 is located on Jalan Pasir Kaliki, very close to Pasteur toll gate. However, if the traffic is bad, you may need 30-45 minutes from and to Pasteur toll gate.

This restaurant is very eye catching, not only because of its cute look, but also because the parking place is so limited, resulting traffic jam near the Kafetaria 170, most of the time.

What an eye catching building on Jalan Pasir Kaliki

Two Hands Full Coffee, Bandung

If you succeed to reach Pasteur Bandung Toll Exit very early on a Saturday morning, then why not start your day with the most delicious coffee in Bandung?

I knew this cafe, Tho Hands Full Coffee from instagram, and from all those beautiful pictures of the cafe uploaded on instagram, I knew I had to visit Two Hands Full, Bandung.

Located on one of the most busiest road in Bandung (especially on weekends), Jalan Sukajadi. If you come from Pasteur, you will find Parijs Van Java Mall (PVJ) on your left, then just go straight. Two Hands Full Coffee will be on your right, with only a small sign.

Once you stepped in, you will be amazed by how cool this place is.

Breakfast at Hummingbird, Bandung

Saturday is our day to do cafe hopping in Bandung. This is the time when Bandung's traffic is still ok and cafes which provide breakfast are usually still empty.

Having visited Miss Bee, we would like to try Miss Bee's sister cafe called Hummingbird. Actually it's not a new place, but we haven't got a chance to visit it.

Hummingbird Eatery and Guesthouse is located on Jalan Progo Bandung, minutes away from the famous Factory Outlets on Jalan Riau, Bandung. You can find their first branch at Kuningan City, Jakarta, as well.

We were welcomed by the bird:p

Pavilliun Sunda: Where To Eat Sundanese Food in Bandung

I came across the name of the restaurant: Pavilliun Sunda on Jalan Riau Bandung, when I was looking for a restaurant serving Sundanese food for a group of 50 people. My friend suggested Pavilliun Sunda, but I had never heard about this restaurant before.

Then I found out that it's on Jalan Riau, located few meters away from our favorite cafe, Two Cents. It used to be a maternity hospital, I remember one of my cousin gave birth there.

I couldn't believe what I saw when I visited Pavilliun Sunda for the first time, what a different place compared to what it used to be!

From the interior, you can feel that it is an upscale Sundanese restaurant

Tokyo Connection Bandung

Jalan Progo Bandung might be one of the street in Bandung which has more than 10 cafes and restaurants. One of the first cafe was Toko Coklat Bandung which we visited in 2009.

On a late Saturday afternoon, we decided to stop by and have our early dinner, knowing that Jalan Progo will be really crowded on a Saturday night. Because my father loves Japanese food, we decided to have a family dinner at Tokyo Connection Bandung.

The restaurant is dominated by wood, giving it a very relaxing ambiance. We sat at the front area and choose the table near the window to enjoy Bandung's fresh air.

Baso Simponi Jalan Progo Bandung

If you go to Bandung and confuse what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner, just head to Jalan Progo. It used to be famous because Jonas Photo is located there, but now the street is packed with cute restaurants. You can find Japanese, western to Indonesian food on Jalan Progo.

We were looking a restaurant for our brunch on Sunday, and decided to try the newly opened Baso Simponi on Jalan Progo. We parked our car in their small restaurant which has a Honda CB in front of it. From outside it doesn't look like "a warung" that serve noodle and meatballs, instead it looks like a very nice place to hang out with your friends.

[Featured Post] Dinner at Toastina Sheraton Bandung

There was a wedding party held during our weekend getaway in Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers (this is a featured post, see disclaimer below). So Miss Isma who was responsible for the Towers Lounge, gave us two option: dinner at Samara or Towers Lounge. Samara is the lounge located at the lobby of Sheraton.

Then I asked Miss Isma, whether we could have dinner at Toastina, a cafe located outside the lobby of Sheraton. Miss Isma said it was ok, both of the lounge and also Toastina will serve food from Feast Restaurant, because of the wedding is held at Feast Restaurant.

I have read about Toastina Pastry and Coffee House over the internet, all the reviews mentioned how cozy this place is. The coffee and the affordable price are often mentioned as the highlights by the reviewers of Toastina.

Yup, indeed it is a cozy place
